PEP PRESIDENT SEAN TEMBO TURNS TO US PRESIDENT TRUMP OVER PARTY RECORDS ALTERATION.

Sean Tembo, President of the Patriots for Economic Progress, has written formerly to U.S. President Donald Trump seeking intervention following alleged alterations to his party’s records at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.
Mr. Tembo confirmed the development to Mafken News, stating that the changes reportedly resulted in the party being redesignated as a church and the removal of its listed office bearers. He said the alterations have effectively blocked him and the party’s presidential candidate from filing nominations for the 13 August 2026 general election.
He further alleged that candidates for both parliamentary and presidential positions across the country have been prevented from filing nominations due to the revised registration status.
In his letter, Mr. Tembo urged Mr. Trump to engage Hakainde Hichilema in order to restore the party’s records and allow its candidates to participate in the electoral process.
He cited Mr. Trump’s public stance on democratic governance as part of the reason for appealing to him for diplomatic or political attention on the matter.
Mr. Tembo said the move was necessary to safeguard his party’s participation in the upcoming elections, insisting that the alleged administrative changes have left the party unable to field candidates.
