Tonga remains Detained
Enock Roosevelt Tonga serves as the president of the Third Liberation Movement (3rd LM) and was a representative of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance to the ECZ National Totalling Centre.
His crime was to demand that Electoral Commission of Zambia Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis suspends the announcement of presidential results until a joint verification exercise was done as the results announced so far were markedly different from those announced at Constituency level.
He was beaten, pushed and led away
He is detained at Kabwata Police Station since 14th August 2026.
Tonga is among 300 Opposition leaders and supporters detained without charge.
Government swung into action and arrested most of those involved in a vote protection and PVT program, members of the secretariat involved in the recruitment of party agents to monitor elections and those detained after the miliatry raid on Alliance leader, Brian Mundubile that saw the killing of former Cabinet Minister of Transport and Communications, Mutotwe Kafwaya.
