NO FREE RIDE TO DUBAI: POLITICAL PARTIES TO PAY THEIR OWN WAY FOR BALLOT INSPECTION IN DUBAI

NO FREE RIDE TO DUBAI: POLITICAL PARTIES TO FOOT THEIR OWN BILL FOR BALLOT INSPECTION

Political parties intending to witness the printing of ballot papers for Zambia’s 2026 General Election in Dubai will have to cover their own expenses, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced.

ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis revealed that while political parties and other stakeholders are welcome to observe the ballot printing process scheduled for June 30, 2026, the Commission will not finance their travel or accommodation.

Speaking on the election preparations, Ms. Zaloumis said the responsibility for sponsoring delegates to Dubai rests entirely with the respective political parties

The ballot printing exercise forms an important part of the electoral process, allowing stakeholders to verify the accuracy of candidate details, ballot layouts and security features before the materials are shipped to Zambia ahead of the August 13 polls.

The ECZ has maintained that stakeholder participation in the ballot printing process enhances transparency and helps build confidence in the integrity of the election.

With the country gearing up for the August 13, 2026 General Election, political parties now face the additional task of mobilising resources for representatives who wish to monitor the ballot production process in the United Arab Emirates.

The announcement comes as preparations for the highly anticipated elections enter a critical phase, with political parties intensifying their campaigns across the country.
