HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICERS (ROS) COVERING UP FOR ABSENTEE DOCTORS – MASEBO
Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo says some human resource officers are conniving with some doctors whose records show that they have gone on study leave yet are actively working in the private sector.
Ms Masebo said this yesterday at the induction ceremony of the first cohort of medical doctors to graduate from Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU).
“That is why I keep saying that the systems have broken down and this is the mess we have in the system, especially with the human resource departments,” she said.
“We have people in the civil service who only want to get rich, they are only thinking about how they will get rich, how they will buy the latest big car or build a house with the latest design.
“The human resource departments are covering up for Ministry of Health officers who claim to have gone on long study leave yet those officers are working in the private sector, they have connived with inefficient HRs who are covering up for them in exchange for corrupt money.”
Ms Masebo warned that if found wanting, such officers will not be tolerated as they will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“When auditors plan to carry out investigations, these same human resource officers will tip the officers to report for work and temporarily show themselves at work,” she said.
“We know what has been going on and we shall deal with you accordingly. If we had an efficient human resource, both at headquarters and divisions, we would not be seeing this.”
