UKA LEADERS FLY INTO MONGU FOR KUOMBOKA

The opposition alliance, United Kwacha Alliance – UKA this morning flew into Mongu for the Koumboka ceremony taking place today.

They arrived midmorning and are attending the Koumboka ceremony that has been married with impasse between the Barotse Royal Establishment and government over the Guest of Honor.

The Koumboka ceremony is being graced by Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people.

Sakwiba Sikota the UKA Chairman is leading the encourage which among the notables include PF Vice president Given Lubinda.

President Hakainde Hichilema though not invited flew into Mongu yesterday and met the two Chiefs – the Litunga and Chitimukulu.

The BRE did not invite President Hichilema the position which was seen as the reaction to his remarks over the Barotse issue.

President Hichilema however said he needed no passport or permission to attend the Koumboka ceremony. He said he will be attending the event as a private Citizen.

He said his critics were trying to create “a war” between him and the Lozi people.

Hundreds of people were bused to give a thouderous welcome to President Hichilema in what looked to be a showdown with those opposed to his attending the Koumboka ceremony.
