….Not On Death Bed
Sixth Republican President Edgar Lungu is doing fine in South Africa, his party PF has confirmed.
Contrary to some reports from selected media that Lungu is ill, Spokesperson Emmanuel Mwamba said the former President is fine.
Mwamba said Lungu is in South Africa where he went for medical review and has taken advantage of his trip to take some rest.
“Zambia’s Sixth President, Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu is in South Africa for medical review and has used the opportunity to have a short holiday. He is doing very well.” Mwamba said when he featured on Diamond TV breakfast show.
Mwamba explained that he spoke to former president Lungu this morning.
“I just spoke to him a short while ago,” he said.
He dismissed reports that the former president who left the country on 20th January 2025 was on death bed.
“The UPND have peddled lies using State House rogue online media about the health of the former President and yet when Zambians attempt to discuss President Hakainde Hichilema’s health, they have criminalised such a debate,” Mwamba said.
He promised that the former President will soon be back in the country.
“I must emphasise that President Lungu is doing well and he will be returning to Zambia soon,” said Mwamba.
The former President left the country without the public being told about his destination and purpose of his travel.
