BUSINESSMAN SUES LUNGU OVER 9-YEAR OLD DEBT

BUSINESSMAN SUES LUNGU OVER 9-YEAR OLD DEBT.

DESPITE having declared himself as the owner of ‘Kasaka kandalama’ former President Edgar Lungu has been dragged to Court by a Lusaka resident failing to dip in his bag and clear an outstanding debt for campaign material supplied to him in 2016.

Happy Mwaba Mwangata is demanding a meager K336, 000 from Lungu for the branded caps, T-shirts and wrist watches he supplied to him prior to the 2016 general election.

He wants the Lusaka magistrates’ Court to compel Lungu to clear the bill.

According to an affidavit verifying debt Mwnagata said he made attempts to claim his money from Lungu but his aid Chisanga Chanda frustrated his efforts as he always prevented him from accessing Lungu even after he was dislodged from his seat of authority in 2021.

“During the run up to the 2016 general elections I supplied various campaign materials to Lungu which included branded caps and wrist watches to the defendant all valued at 336, 000,” said Mwangata.

“I had made several demands to meet the defendant in person during the period he was in office and after he left but he was constantly blocked by his aid Mr Chanda.”
