NDOLA CENTRAL RESULTS NOT YET DECLARED — FRANK TAYALI URGES SUPPORTERS TO REMAIN CALM

It has come to our knowledge that through our PVT system, we have been able to successfully win three of the five wards in our constituency. Sadly, the opposition RP candidate realising eminent defeat unleashed a hoard of thugs and criminals in two of the remaining wards, namely Mapalo (Chipulukusu) and Nkwazi.
Eye witness accounts show how these criminals and thugs were being transported into the said wards by the known RP candidate. This was ostensibly to protect the vote but in actual fact was to cause commotion in the said wards where helpless police officers, polling agents for candidates and other stakeholders were forced to lock themselves in a small classroom to avoid being attacked.
When this information reached me, I personally decided to go and verify what information we had just received. Upon arrival at Chibolele polling station, I was met by these irate criminals and thugs in the guise of “party cadres” and if not for my quick realisation of the danger that befell me, I would have been seriously injured by the thugs who were weilding offensive weapons and stones.
One of my vehicles was damaged and the party officials in it suffered grievous bodily harm.
I would like to thank the Copperbelt Zambia Army Regional Command for deploying army personnel that came to restore law and order. The visibly drunk criminals pelted stones at the armed soldiers and only scampered with the sound of warning shots fired in the air.
This caused the stakeholders serious mental distress and has resulted in political tension. The matter has since been formally reported to the police and the ECZ for quick intervention and restoration of law and order to facilitate for the conclusion of our legitimate democratic election process.
I therefore urge all our youths not to approach these dangerous criminals and not to fight back because we are law abiding citizens.
