Brian Mundubile Unveils Vision for a Prosperous Western Province.

By:LMM

As part of his campaign, Brian Mundubile has outlined a development agenda aimed at transforming Western Province through strategic investments in healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and livestock development. His vision is centered on creating jobs, improving public services, and ensuring that the people of Western Province receive a fair share of Zambia’s national development.

A University Teaching Hospital for Western Province

One of the flagship commitments is the construction of a University Teaching Hospital in Western Province, which would serve as a regional Centre of Excellence in healthcare.

The proposed hospital would provide specialist medical services, advanced diagnostic facilities, medical research, and the training of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals. The project aims to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to Lusaka for specialized treatment while strengthening healthcare delivery throughout the province.

Road Infrastructure to Open Regional Trade

Brian Mundubile has also pledged to prioritize the construction of a modern tarred road linking Mongu to Sikongo and onward to Angola.

The road is expected to improve transport, reduce travel time, facilitate trade between Zambia and Angola, encourage tourism, and create new economic opportunities for businesses and local communities along the corridor.

Revitalising Agriculture

Recognising agriculture as the backbone of Western Province’s economy, the campaign proposes renewed investment in:

Rice production

Cashew nut farming

Livestock farming

The plan seeks to increase productivity through improved extension services, better access to markets, value addition, irrigation, and support for farmers. Expanding these sectors is expected to create employment, raise household incomes, and strengthen food security.

A Fair Share of National Development

A key message of the campaign is that Western Province and the Barotse people deserve an equitable share of Zambia’s national development.

The vision emphasizes increased investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic opportunities so that the province can fully realize its development potential alongside other regions of the country.

A Modern Livestock Laboratory

To strengthen animal health and livestock production, the campaign proposes establishing a state-of-the-art livestock laboratory to serve Western Province and surrounding regions.

The laboratory would provide disease surveillance, veterinary diagnostics, livestock research, and certification services, helping farmers improve animal productivity while supporting domestic and export markets.

Looking Ahead

Brian Mundubile’s campaign presents a vision of Western Province as a region driven by quality healthcare, modern infrastructure, productive agriculture, and inclusive development. The proposals aim to unlock the province’s economic potential, improve public services, and create lasting opportunities for future generations.
