FRIENDS OF KEITH: Zambia Under-20 Coaching Staff Filled With FAZ President Keith Mweemba’s Friends
Dropped from the senior national team, FAZ National Teams Technical Committee chairman who doubles as president Keith Mweemba has constituted an Under-20 technical bench dominated by his friends some of whom coached his team FC Muza.

FAZ APPOINTS NEW U20 TECHNICAL BENCH
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Chipolopolo legend and Green Eagles coach Perry Mutapa as Under-20 Men’s National Team coach.
Mutapa will be assisted by Sipho Mumbi, Lameck Banda and Masautso Tembo as first, second and strikers’ coaches respectively.
Until recently, Mutapa was an assistant coach at the Senior Men’s National Team that participated at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
He takes over from Boyd Mulwanda whose last assignment was the 2025 Under-20 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
Former Chipolopolo defender Emmanuel Mbola and 2012 AFCON winner James Chamanga will serve as equipment manager and team ambassador in that order.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya says the technical bench’s immediate task would be preparations for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification tournament in Mauritius.
“In an effort to regenerate the focus for our Under-20 boys’ national team, we have decided to appoint a new bench to align with the assignments coming ahead. We have our focus on the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations zonal qualifier which will take place in Mauritius from 18-27 September,” says Chakatazya.
“We have tasked the new bench to qualify the team to the AFCON and subsequently to the FIFA World Cup. Our Under-20 project has been on the wane since the 2017 side that won the AFCON and reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup in South Korea.”
He says FAZ is drawing from the coaching expertise of former internationals whom can inspire the current generation to aim for higher targets.
“The team assembled is bringing four former Chipolopolo stars whose experience we expect to spur the young lads to victory,” Chakatazya says.
