United Party for National Development UPND member George Mtonga has joined a growing number of party-aligned voices calling for President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership and policy agenda to extend beyond the constitutional two-term limit.
Mtonga argues that President Hichilema’s plans require at least 20 years to fully deliver the results he expects, saying a 10-year period would be insufficient to achieve the desired transformation.
“President Hakainde Hichilema’s plans need a whole 20 years for them to create the value that I expect. The idea that this can be done in 10 years is almost impossible. It takes four years to go through documents before money even moves,” Mtonga said.
He further argued that what he described as the “HH ideology” should govern Zambia for 20 years to realise the outcomes he has projected.
“The HH ideology must govern this country for 20 years for it to produce the value that I have always calculated,” Mtonga said.
