Zambian Boxer Chinyemba Wins Gold at African Games!

Our sensational boxer Patrick Chinyemba has made history by clinching Zambia’s second gold medal at the ongoing African Games in Ghana!

What makes this victory even more special is that Chinyemba is one of the six athletes on the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC) “Olympic Scholarships for Athletes – Paris 2024” programme to medal at these games.

Other Olympic Scholarship athletes are:

1. Stephen Mung’andu – Gold, Judo
2. Muzala Samukonga – Silver, Athletics
3. Mia Phiri – 2 Bronze, Swimming
4. Margret Tembo – Bronze, Boxing
5. Simon Zulu – Bronze, Judo

The objective of these scholarships is to assist elite athletes in their preparation and qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with a focus on athletes and NOCs with the greatest needs.

Chinyemba has already secured his spot at the Paris Games, and the rest of our athletes are well-positioned to qualify too!

I bet this collective success is a source of immense pride for the National Olympic Committee of Zambia and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit of our athletes, who continue to inspire the nation with their remarkable performances on the international stage.

Congratulations to all our champions!

Zambia is proud of you!
