21 year old woman in Chama district has taken her own life after marital dispute

21 YEAR OLD CHAMA WOMAN TAKES OWN LIFE

A 21 year old woman in Chama district of Eastern province, has has taken her own life after marital dispute.

The deceased who has been identified as Faine Mtonga of Chowa village, Chief Chikwa, hang!d herself under a tree in the bush, yesterday.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer Paul Achiume confirmed the sad incident to Kwenje Radio today.

Mr Achiume says Police were informed by Darius Kumwenda aged 43, who is a Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) Officer, from the same village, that a woman identified as Faine Mtonga had taken her own life

Brief facts are that, Faine Mtonga now the deceased had been having long standing marital disputes with her husband Paul Zimba.

Mr. Achiume says on March, 20, 2024, Faine Mtonga now the deceased after is said to have left her matrimonial house without telling anyone where she had gone.

He added that Faine Mtonga now the deceased, was only found de@d under a tree in the bush, the following day, by other villagers, who were coming back from their maize fields.

The Police Commissioner says the family has been advised to bury and mark the grave.

And Lunzi ward Councilor Dewe Mtonga who also confirmed the sad incident to Kwenje Radio today, says he is devastated with the death of Faine Mtonga.

Mr. Mtonga has urged people to prefer resolving issues to taking their lives, whenever faced with different situations.

The deceased has left behind an eight year old child.
