WHY IS ZNPHI RENTING HICHILEMA’S BUILDING?
ZAMBIANS MUST DEMAND TRANSPARENCY FROM ITS LEADERS.
We want to remind you about the need to demand transparency from your political leaders in all ranks. As long as someone is employed by the public and is paid by the public,, transparency is a must.
The bigger the public office one occupies, the more the demand for transparency from both those who are being governed and those occupying those offices. It is actually good leadership quality for those holding public offices to voluntarily disclose their interests in commercial matters that can bring about conflict of interest.
However, if public officers can not voluntarily declare interest in matters that can bring conflict of interest, citizens are at liberty to remind such public officers to be transparent.
It is not an offence to ask and it is for this reason that this evening we pose some questions to everyone including Dictator Hichilema.
It is common knowledge that Hakainde Hichilema is linked to a company called African Life which also manages Saturnia Regna Pension Zambia a Pension Trust company that owns a lot of properties in Zambia and beyond.
The Government of Zambia which is headed by an Executive President has under its structures the Zambia National Public Healh Institute (ZNPHI), which is not only funded by the Zambian Government but bilateral and Multilateral Donors as well.
Then the Chief Executive Officer of the ZNPHI institute also happens to be the Special Assistant to the Republican President on Covid and Health in General. This Presidential Aide even drives a State House Vehicle.
Then you discover that the ZNPHI is renting offices from a building along Addis Ababa Road in Lusaka which people tell you was constructed at former Coin Security Zambia offices and that Coin once belonged to Late Politician and Businessman who was also founding President of the ruling party the UPND Anderson Mazoka and that the current Republican President is the Administrator of the Mazoka estate. Then someone tells you that actually the building ZNPHI is renting is owned by Saturnia.
Can it be wrong to ask questions that seek clarification? If not, what questions can you ask? Will they include such questions as was there any advert from ZNPHI seeking office space? Is it morally correct for ZNPHI to rent offices from a company linked to the Republican President if indeed it is proved so?
Let us debate this issue. Does the building at the Corner of Addis Ababa and Chaholi raod belong to Saturnia? If indeed it does, is it in order for ZNPHI headed by Hichilema’s Aide to rent from Saturnia? If there is nothing wrong, what should be the procedure?
