NO 2031 CARTELS WILL BE ALLOWED IN UPND – SIMUUWE
UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe has warned that the party will not tolerate groups allegedly forming 2031 political cartels or issuing statements that undermine the party and Government.
Simuuwe said members with political ambitions should wait for their time and allow the National Management Committee (NMC) to guide the party on leadership matters.
“2031 cartels will not be tolerated in the party,” Simuuwe stated.
He said the UPND had established rules, procedures and systems which members were expected to respect, adding that those unwilling to follow the party’s coordinated programmes were not suited to remain in the organisation.
Simuuwe noted that some individuals who resigned from the UPND in 2025 had cited shrinking democracy but had not publicly rejoined the party, while allegedly continuing to criticise Government and UPND officials.
“The party needs people who are loyal not those who resign many times and come back many times,” he said.
He maintained that the UPND remained one of Zambia’s most organised parties and credited its structured approach for its longevity.
“There can only be one President and one Vice President in the party at a time,” Simuuwe stressed.
He warned that unofficial statements undermining party structures would not be tolerated.
“Without order, the party cannot stand,” he said.
