WHO STOLE THE VICE PRESIDENT? ZAMBIA’S NUMBER TWO HAS GONE MUTE

The FOX Newspaper

Once upon a time in Zambia, the Vice President wasn’t just a protocol seat-warmer—they had bite, bark, and sometimes a presidential ambition or two.

Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe challenged KK and nearly split the party.
Levy Mwanawasa launched from VP to plot a full-scale war on corruption.
Guy Scott made headlines worldwide as Acting President—while teaching the world how to pronounce “Chikankata.”
Inonge Wina turned the VP role into a gender equality crusade with grit and grace.

And now?

W.K Mutale Nalumango, sharp, experienced, and armed with a teacher’s no-nonsense attitude, has been turned into what Zambians are calling… a very expensive ribbon cutter. When disaster strikes, she shows up—but never leads the conversation. When policy shifts, she’s seen—but not heard. In today’s Cabinet, she’s less co-pilot, more co-passenger.

We’re not saying she’s not capable. We’re saying she’s been parked.

Let’s be honest—Zambia misses a Vice President with punch. One who doesn’t just smile for photos but pokes the bear when things go wrong.

Past Veeps:

• Launched movements
• Held presidencies
• Fought for reforms
• Balanced political tensions

Current VP: mostly “pomp and disappear.”

If this is strategic silence, it’s not working. If it’s political sidelining, it’s a loss—for her, and for the country. We need the office to count again. Because a spare tyre is useless if it’s flat—and right now, Zambians feel stranded.

So we ask again:

WHERE IS OUR VICE PRESIDENT?
Not just the woman—the power.
