Thabo Bester Challenges Transfer to eBongweni in Urgent Pretoria Court Hearing Today
Convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester is in the High Court in Pretoria today, Tuesday, with an urgent application to challenge his transfer from Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre to the high‑security eBongweni Super Maximum Correctional Facility in Kokstad, KwaZulu‑Natal.
Bester argues the move was unlawful, invalid and unconstitutional and seeks an order declaring the transfer invalid, an interdict preventing the Department of Correctional Services from moving him back to eBongweni during ongoing proceedings, and placement at a facility in Gauteng to allow better access to his legal team.
The matter is being heard today as part of his bid to halt the transfer.
