UPND WINS KAWAMBWA IN A-2-HORSE RACE

The ruling UPND says it has won by over a thousand votes in a two horse race in the Kawambwa Council Chairperson by-election held 27th October 2024.

This is according to a report filed by the Northern region publicity team.

But partial results seen by Zambian Eye each of the political parties posted on the polling stations they won.

The results analyzed by our Political Analyst say the two horse election results where UPND had to camp five Ministers in a by-election has nothing for celebration for UPND.

A general election where the concentrations is spread across the 150 constituencies would have a different results.

UPND must not deceive themselves over these by-election results. The difference is actually not good for them, Zambian Political Analyst in Lusaka says.

Below is the article posted by the UPND that they have won the Council chairperson election.

Kawambwa, 27th October 2024

In the highly anticipated Kawambwa Council Chairperson by-election, Titus Musa, the UPND candidate, has emerged victorious, capturing over 2,000 votes—more than double the 1,000 votes secured by his main opposition rival. The Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Honorable Peter Kapala, who, along with other prominent UPND ministers, was a leading figure in the campaign, confirmed the results and praised the dedication of the UPND team and grassroots supporters who made this triumph possible.

Honorable Kapala attributed the success to the transformative policies of President Hakainde Hichilema, which have been widely embraced by the people of Kawambwa. He emphasized key UPND government initiatives, such as the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF), strategic investments in road infrastructure, increased agricultural support, and livestock promotion, all of which are making a tangible difference in rural communities. Kapala highlighted how these measures are revitalizing local economies, improving quality of life, and bridging the gap between rural and urban development.

Titus Musa’s victory is viewed as an affirmation of the UPND’s commitment to inclusive growth and rural development. His campaign focused on sustainable development goals, improved access to healthcare, and further investment in Kawambwa’s agricultural sector. The people’s choice signals a strong endorsement of the UPND’s vision for a self-reliant, prosperous Kawambwa.

As the new Council Chairperson, Musa is set to champion community-focused initiatives that align with the government’s goals of economic growth and social progress. He has committed to working closely with local stakeholders, ensuring that Kawambwa’s development remains responsive to the community’s needs and aspirations. Key priorities under Musa’s leadership will include boosting agricultural productivity, improving infrastructure, and enhancing access to essential services, laying a foundation for lasting development.
