UKA REMAINS UKA AND IS RESOLVED MORE THAN EVER TO LIBERATE ZAMBIANS FROM UPND’S MISRULE

“United Kwacha Alliance, UKA has NOT ENDORSED or PICKED a 2026 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE neither has it changed it’s NAME.”

Ndola-Tuesday, November 12, 2024

1. We would like to clarify to the general public, our members, and those who still have hope for Zambia and continue to cheer us on, that the United Kwacha Alliance has NOT changed its name and neither does it have any intentions of doing so.

2. We believe UKA is not just aspirational but represents the values of unity, peace and above all the yearning for the people of Zambia to arise and redeem themselves from any form of subjugation.

3. While UKA continues to work with faith-based, religious, civil society (CSO’s), youth, women, disability rights organizations and many other special interest groups, we remain consistent with our principles and values of promoting order, discipline and unity of purpose in our quest to liberate the citizens of Zambia from a repressive, inept and corrupt UPND government.

“In this quest we MUST state for the record that we do not support duality of alliances as that goes against the spirit of uniting the opposition.”

4. To this effect, therefore and in upholding order and unity of purpose, those who seek to belong to a multiplicity of alliance groups are encouraged to disengage from UKA and join any alliance of their choice and that will allow members to belong to a multitude of alliances. Members of UKA are reminded of Matthew 11 :25 – “a house divided against itself can not stand”.

5. We would like to stress that as UKA we remain committed to our core mission, whose primary focus is finding solutions for the hardships the citizens are currently facing and we therefore call upon like-minded Zambians that believe as we do, that it is possible to emancipate Zambia and develop into a better country, to join us as we embark on this journey.

6. UKA is alive to the calls that have been made for a flag bearer to be announced to the nation. We would like to assure the nation that the process of identifying a flag bearer is a key task that can not be done without thorough consultation, candidate profiling and a suitability assessment.

7. In this regard, we are happy to advise that we have reached an advanced stage in the process and upon completion of the process UKA will be able to announce to the nation not just the flag bearer but the next President of the Republic of Zambia after the 2026 elections as we shall announce a team that will deliver victory with the support of the Zambian people.

8. UKA will, however, focus on identifying policies and solutions that will deliver Zambia into a better economic, social and political space by building a visibly credible team while continuing on the path of identifying a flag bearer and presidential candidate, with the running mate, for the 2026 elections based on our set benchmarks.

Some of these benchmarks include but are not limited to:

i. Honesty
ii. Intregrity
iii. Consistency
iv. Right motive for offering their candidature to the country
v. Willingness to put country above self
vi. Plans for bettering the lives of Zambians
vii. Singular focus to provide a new and improved team that will not repeat the excesses of the past
viii. No ulterior motives for seeking office
ix. Acceptability across all sections of the country.

9. Finally, we would like to encourage all UKA members, partners, sympathizers and followers to make themselves available to volunteer in different areas as we start the process of mobilizing ourselves and to get us to a point of readiness ahead of the 2026 elections.

10. We thank you and trust that we will work together and rid this nation of this inept and repressive government.

Signed
SAKWIBA SIKOTA SC
CHAIRPERSON
UNITED KWACHA ALLIANCE-UKA
