ROBERT CHABINGA BRAZENLY DEFIES LUSAKA HIGH COURT ORDER—CLINGS TO PF ACTING PRESIDENCY IN CONTEMPTUOUS SHOWDOWN

In a stunning display of defiance, Hon. Robert Chabinga has blatantly ignored a binding injunction issued by the Lusaka High Court on 8th November 2024, which barred him from presenting himself as the Acting President of the Patriotic Front (PF).

The court, presided over by Judge CC Zulu, had explicitly prohibited Chabinga from convening or addressing the public in that capacity an order he recklessly disregarded by going ahead with a press conference on Sunday, 10th November 2024 at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

The injunction followed an urgent application by Matero Member of Parliament and rival PF faction leader, Hon. Miles B. Sampa. Chabinga’s decision to proceed with the press event, in direct violation of the court’s directive, now places him on a collision course with the judiciary, risking immediate legal consequences for contempt of court including potential imprisonment.

Sampa, in a scathing post on his verified Facebook page warned that Chabinga’s continued disregard for lawful authority amounts to a dangerous act of political arrogance. He decried what he labeled “illegitimate and desperate attempts” to expel him from the party, asserting that such actions are not only illegal but laughably unenforceable under Zambia’s constitutional democracy.

“The days of lawlessness and political impunity are over,” Sampa declared. “We are a nation governed by lawsnot by self-appointed strongmen who think they can bulldoze the courts.”

This confrontation marks a new low in the PF’s intensifying leadership war, laying bare the brutal internal divisions tearing through the party. As the battle for control rages on, the courts may soon be forced to escalate sanctions against individuals who defy judicial authority with such open hostility.
