Police, DEC withdraw operation to seize property from Lusaka law firm
Police and Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) officers have withdrawn an operation to seize property from the offices of KMG Chisanga Advocates and Notaries in Lusaka following engagement with the law firm’s representatives.
The officers visited the firm’s offices and identified themselves as law enforcement agents before indicating that they were conducting an operation to seize property.
Lawyer Norman Siwila of Mulungushi Chambers, who is representing KMG Chisanga Advocates and Notaries, confirmed the development, saying the officers did not specify the particular property they intended to seize.
Mr Siwila said the matter was subsequently discussed with the firm’s legal representatives, following which the officers informed them that the operation had been withdrawn.
The development comes as the firm’s proprietor, lawyer and former lawmaker George Chisanga, remains in custody at Mukobeko Prison in connection with a treason case.
Mr Chisanga is jointly charged with Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and 15 others in the case.
