MUNDUBILE CAN GO TO HELL, I DON’T CARE CALL ME JUDAS ISCARIOT” – EZRA TEMBO
NRPUP standing in President Ezra Tembo has reportedly taken a hardline stance against former NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, declaring that he does not care if Mundubile considers him a traitor.
Tembo is quoted as saying: “Mundubile can go to hell. I don’t care. You can call me Judas Iscariot.”
“I’m not aware of who presented the NRPUP proportional representation MP list to the ECZ,” NRPUP interim President Ezra Tembo informs the party.
The remarks come amid an escalating dispute over control of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) and the party’s proportional-representation nominations.
Mundubile contested the August 13, 2026 presidential election on the NRPUP ticket under the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance.
Following the election, however, NRPUP leadership has moved to distance the party from Mundubile and the wider alliance.
Tembo has maintained that Mundubile was the party’s presidential candidate, but that the party’s leadership remains separate from his role as a candidate since is now in Prison.
The dispute intensified after NRPUP submitted its list of candidates for proportional-representation seats, with Mundubile and his allies questioning Tembo’s authority to proceed without them.
The latest confrontation has exposed deep divisions within the political camp that backed Mundubile during the 2026 presidential election, with competing claims over who controls the party and who has the authority to determine its political direction.
