First Zambian Soybean Export Shipment Dispatched to China
A landmark shipment of approximately 120 tonnes of Zambian soybeans, produced by CAMCO Demonstration Farms Ltd., has been dispatched from Serenje, Zambia to China, marking a significant milestone in bilateral agricultural trade.
Facilitated by China’s zero-tariff policy, this shipment opens new avenues for Zambian agricultural products in the vast Chinese market and creates fresh opportunities for agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
Zambia has set an ambitious target of 3 million tonnes of annual soybean production by 2031, in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s Grow Zambia Agenda. As China imports more than 110 million tonnes of soybeans annually, the Chinese market offers substantial opportunities for Zambian products.
China welcomes more high-quality Zambian agricultural products and stands ready to deepen mutually beneficial agricultural cooperation with Zambia. Through sustained efforts to expand trade and strengthen economic ties, the two countries can advance shared development and usher in a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
