Lusaka woman, and her daughters kept hubby’s corpse for 2 years at matrimonial home in Garden

A WOMAN of Lusaka’s Garden Compound has become the center of a spooky scandal after police raided her home last evening and discovered the skeletal remains of her husband, presumed murdered two years ago, hidden in the most unthinkable place – her matrimonial bed.

The gruesome find has left the woman’s neighbors as well as social users reeling in shock.

To get to the bottom of the issue, police have taken the deceased’s wife, Sylvia Mutoba Kalaba aged 51 into custody along with her daughters aged 27, 22, 19 and 15 respectively.

According to the police details on the matter so far, George Kalaba had not been seen by his neighbours or relatives since 2023.

Any attempts by George’s relatives to visit and see him in Garden Compound were he stayed with his wife and daughters were met with endless excuses from his spouse.

But it wasn’t just loved ones who sensed something was amiss – even creditors who were owed money by George were suspiciously denied access to him.

The wife’s evasive behavior ultimately raised the suspicions of George’s elder brother, Emmanuel, who spearheaded the quest for answers.

Yesterday morning, Emmanuel’s concerns for his missing brother, George, reached a boiling point after two years of unsuccessful attempts to contact him.

Frustrated by the closed doors and unreachable calls, Emmanuel decided to storm his brother’s house as he traveled from Chelston to Garden Compound around 05:00 hours in the early hours of yesterday determined to see his brother before he left for the day.

However, upon arrival, he was met with resistance from George’s wife, and their daughters, who had barricaded themselves inside the house.

Despite Emmanuel’s pleas to see his brother, the family refused to grant him access, fueling his suspicions and prompting him to seek help from the police.

In a last-ditch effort to uncover the truth, Emmanuel approached the neighbours, inquiring about the last time they had seen his brother.

The neighbours told Emmanuel it had been over two years since anyone had laid eyes on George, with Sylvia actively preventing visitors from seeing him.

This bombshell revelation increased Emmanuel’s suspicions, and he swiftly reported his concerns to the police, setting in motion a chain of events that would ultimately expose the dark secrets hidden within the family’s walls.

Acting on the report, Police officers mobilized, organised a search warrant, and around 16:00 hours forcibly entered the residence, only to be met with a horrific discovery that had left the entire Garden Compound community haunted.

Lying on the bed, in a macabre pose, were the skeletal remains of George, eerily resembling a sleeping man.

The gruesome find suggested that George had been deceased for two years, during which time his wife, Sylvia, and their daughters, callously cohabited with his lifeless corpse.

“The skeletal remains of Mr. George Kalaba have been collected and deposited at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted [today] January 15, 2025, to ascertain the cause of death,” said Hamoonga told Kalemba in a statement last evening.

Hamoonga said the motive behind the alleged murder remained unknown as police are still carrying out an investigation in the matter.

“The daughters have also been apprehended and are in custody to assist with investigations,” said Hamoonga.
