Is Muvi TV Drifting Off Course? A Critical Look at Its Current Trajectory

Muvi TV, once regarded as a bold and independent voice in Zambian media, appears to be at a crossroads. A quick glance at its official Facebook page reveals a puzzling shift the platform has seemingly transformed into a promotional tool for an aspiring candidate in Chawama Constituency.

This unexpected focus raises a pressing question: has Muvi TV recalibrated its target audience to Chawama residents, or is this a reflection of a deeper editorial shift? More importantly, does this online trend mirror the content being broadcast on their television channel?

What is becoming increasingly clear is that Muvi TV is grappling with a talent crisis. Over the years, the station has witnessed a significant exodus of its top journalists, analysts, presenters, and social media managers many of whom have found new homes at rival stations like Diamond TV, Crown TV, and KBN TV. This loss of experienced professionals has undoubtedly affected Muvi TV’s ability to maintain the quality and credibility that once set it apart.

Governance expert Isaac Mwanza has weighed in on this concerning trend, stating:

“Media institutions must understand that their credibility is tied to the talent they attract and retain. Losing skilled professionals without replacing them with equally competent individuals weakens not only their content but also public trust.”

The big question now is whether Muvi TV has made any meaningful effort to replace the talent it lost. Are they nurturing a new generation of journalists and media experts, or are they merely surviving on the momentum built by their predecessors?

In a rapidly evolving media landscape, credibility is everything. Viewers are not just passive consumers they are critical thinkers who can easily detect a shift in editorial tone or a decline in content quality.

If Muvi TV is to reclaim its position as a trusted news source, it must invest in fresh talent, embrace balanced reporting, and reestablish its commitment to serving the broader Zambian audience not just a single constituency.

The path forward is clear: adapt or risk fading into irrelevance.
