MUFULIRA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL DISPOSE OF MEALIE MEAL
Mufulira Municipal Council working with the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and Zambia Police Service has disposed of 1, 300 bags of mealie meal. The mealie meal valued at K 390, 000.00 was disposed off following a court order.
Brief facts of the matter are that the mealie meal was seized by the District Task Force on 30th October 2023 at Butondo Market after an attempt to be smuggled to the neighbouring country.
As the court ruling was waited, the mealie meal got soaked and decomposed in the process. This necessitated the disposal.
The mealie meal was disposed off at the Mufulira Municipal Council dump site on Thursday, 21st March, 2024.
