Induna Inete was killed by brothers-in-law, Police have revealed

A FAMILY dispute led to the murder of Mwangelwa Akapelwa, Induna Inete who was eventually shot dead by his brother-in-law last week, according to a police investigation.

The Induna was buried four days ago after his body was discovered with fatal bullet wounds slampped in his vehicle within his compund in Mongu, Western Province.

Now, Police have arrested three of Induna Inete’s brothers- in-law along with a witchdoctor in Mongu.

In a statement this morning, Zambia Police Service deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale revealed that four men including a jujuman had been detained in connection with the murder.

Mwale said a short gun believed to have been used to end Induna Inete’s life had also been recovered.

“After thorough investigations, on March 22, 2024, around 23:00 hours, Police were able to trace the suspected killer, identified as Liswaniso Wamunyima aged 47 of Limulunga District. He was found hiding at a witch doctor’s house in Mbuywana plots area in Mongu District,” Mwale revealed.

“The 65-year-old witch doctor known as Limpo Chinyemba was also picked and arrested,” he added.

After spending a few hours in the company of police officers, Liswaniso volunteered vital information that cracked the case wide open.

The murder weapon was with his young brother Lyamba Liswaniso aged 31 also of Limulunga District.

Police then arrested Lyamba together with his brother Masiliso Liswaniso aged 42 in connection with the murder and united the family behind bars.

Mwale said Induna Inete’s murder was motivated by a family dispute although he did not give further details.

“The four suspects are detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged,” stated Mwale.
