Malawi football star Tabitha Chawinga has disclosed that had she not played for Malawi, she would have played for Zambia.
Speaking during a prematch conference, Chawinga said there is no difference between playing for Zambia and Malawi.
“I can wake up tomorrow and say I will pray for Zambia. Malawi and Zambia are the same.
It’s just unfortunate that I already play for Malawi; otherwise, I would have played for Zambia too! We speak the same languages—Chewa, Tumbuka, etc. We’re neighbors, and when Zambia won AFCON, we celebrated like Malawi had won it,” she said.
Malawi will battle with the Barbra Banda inspired Copper Queens in a Southern Africa derby slated for Woodlands Stadium.
