HON. STEPHEN KAMPYONGO, MR EZRON MOONO SURVIVES RTA.

October 20, 2024 – Police in Lusaka have recorded a slight injury road traffic accident (RTA) that occurred today, October 20, 2024, around 11:00 hours, at the intersection of Independence Avenue and President’s Lane, near State House.

The accident involved two vehicles, resulting in minor injuries to both drivers.

The first vehicle, a Toyota Hilux with registration number BAR 6489, was being driven by Hon. Stephen Kampyongo, aged 52, of 31 Kudu Road. He sustained slight injuries and was rushed to Maina Soko Medical Center for treatment. His vehicle, which was moving along Independence Avenue towards Woodlands, had significant damages.

The second vehicle, a Toyota Hilux with registration number GRZ 174 CJ, was being driven by Mr. Ezron Moono, aged 60, of Chilanga. He also sustained slight injuries and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for treatment. His vehicle, which was joining Independence Avenue from President’s Lane, sustained significant damage to both doors, which were dented.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when Mr. Moono, driving the vehicle with registration number GRZ 174 CJ, failed to give way to the vehicle driven by Hon. Kampyongo, leading to the collision.

Both drivers are reported to be in stable condition, and further investigations into the accident have been instituted.
