GOV’T BLAMES POOR NETWORK FOR DELAYED CASH FOR WORK PAYMENTS
LOCAL Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo says the lack of mobile network signals in some areas has delayed payments to beneficiaries of the Cash for Work programme.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Nkombo said his Ministry had disbursed a total of K419 million to all constituencies under the Cash for Work programme.
“Last month, I updated this August House on the implementation of the Cash for Work programme. In my statement to the House, I did highlight among other things, the fact that Ministry of Finance and National Planning had disbursed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development an initial amount of K68.5 million, which amount was consequently disbursed to all the affected 123 constituencies.
