EMMANUEL CHENDA HAPPY WITH THE UPND PRO – POOR POLICIES SUCH AS INCREASED CDF

LUSAKA – FORMER Minister in the Patriotic Front (PF) government and a close associate of late President Michael Sata, Ambassador Emmanuel Chenda has questioned the loyalty of leaders to the late President and the ideals he stood for.

And Ambassador Chenda has commended President Hichilema and the UPND new Dawn administration for their pro poor policies, which he said were the ideals of the late President Sata.

In a tribute to the late President during the 10th anniversary memorial at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, Ambassador Chenda said he had warned the PF leaders during the funeral of the former president to ensure that they honour his legacy of serving the poor and not themselves.

“Ten years ago during the funeral of the late President, I urged my colleagues in the party and government then to honour his legacy.

“Today I have a few questions to ask:  How many of us today can face President Michael Sata and say we have stayed the course and defended his legacy? How many of us can say we have continued to fly his flag high?,” said Ambassador Chenda.

Ambassador said President Sata believed in serving the poor and under privileged in society, and loathed among other corruption.

Ambasador Chenda hailed the UPND government for the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the free education policy.

He said the CDF and the free education policies spoke to the legacy and aspirations of President Sata.

And speaking in her tribute, former First Lady, Christine Kaseba paid glowing tribute to her former husband.

She urged President Hichilema to help in fostering peace, love, and unity in the country.

Dr Kaseba Sata commended President Hichilema and the government for organising a befitting 10th anniversary for the former President.
