ECZ DENIES BLOCKING OPPOSITION CAMPAIGNS
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has refuted claims by certain opposition political parties that it is hindering them from campaigning freely ahead of the upcoming general elections scheduled for August 13, 2026.
ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis clarified that the commission remains impartial and has at no time stopped any political party from conducting its campaigns ahead of the polls.
Ms. Zaloumis stated that the commission’s mandate is to ensure that all political parties, regardless of their popularity, can campaign freely and without any intimidation.
Meanwhile, the ECZ is currently conducting a meeting with presidential aspiring candidates to formulate a national campaign timetable in order to avoid campaign clashes.
