Court Update; Lawyers for President Edgar Lungu have argued that the matter of his eligibility was settled by the same Constitutional Court. Bonaventure Mutale SC says there is no provision in the Constitution to challenge a losing candidate.
Makebi Zulu -This Court has settled this matter, not once, not twice but three times. Edgar Lungu was eligible then and he is eligible now. Your own ruling should be respected and upheld. You do not need to backtrack your own earlier decions and rulings. It is harrasment for Edgar Lungu to keep on coming here to be subjected to the same question three times.
The State, as third respondent, have submitted that Michelo Chizombe’s petition must be dismissed as this matter was settled by the Court.
