MWEETWA SALUTES CATHOLIC PRIEST UNDER CONTENTION

CHIEF Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, has applauded Catholic Priest, Chewe Mukosa, of Ndola Diocese for speaking out on national matters that require government attention.

Speaking when he addressed a Media Briefing in Choma, Wednesday evening, Mweetwa said government will not curtail the voice of the church even on matters not agreeable, as that is what the freedom of speech and expression.

He stated that going forward, government will find better ways of approaching differences with the Clergy, unlike summoning them for possible rebuke in public domain.

Mweetwa also reminded Law Enforcement Wings on the need to adhere to the Presidential directive of thoroughly investigating an issue before rushing to act.

Father Chewe Mukosa of Ndola was reportedly served with a call out by two plain Clothed Police Officers to appear for questioning early this week.

The Summon which was delivered to his Parish House in absentia while he was out on outstation duty, follows Mukosa’s church homily in which he pointed out various economic and social challenges his parishioners are going through.

The Call out has since been withdrawn by Police.
