APOSTLE KUNDA CONDEMNS POLITICAL VI0L£NCE

…..calls for protection of democracy

Lusaka…. Wednesday May 20, 2026 (SMART EAGLES)

Apostle Christopher Kunda of Presence of God Ministries has strongly condemned political vi0l£nce following the alleged attåck involving Hon Gary Nkombo in Mazabuka, urging Zambians to uphold peace, democracy, and national unity.

Speaking to Smart Eagles, Apostle Kunda said Zambia, as a Christian nation, must reject vi0l£nce in all its forms and protect the democratic values the country embraced in 1991.

“It is not what we desire to see in our nation. Zambia is a Christian nation, and we must allow democracy to prevail. Democracy came in 1991, and we want to see it continue for generations to come,”  he said.

The clergyman stressed that vi0l€nce should never be tolerated regardless of political affiliation, warning that what happened to Hon. Nkombo could happen to anyone if such acts are allowed to continue unchecked.

“My fellow Zambians, regardless of political affiliation, what happened to Gary Nkombo is something we should never wish upon anyone. Vi0l£nce has never been the answer, and it will never win,” Apostle Kunda stated.

He further called on church leaders to take an active role in promoting peace and discouraging political intolerance in the country.

“As church leaders, we carry the responsibility to ensure that such acts do not take root in our nation. We do not want vi0l£nce at our doorstep, in our communities, or within our political space. This is ev1l, and it is not good,” he said.

Apostle Kunda also defended the rights of independent candidates and citizens to participate freely in the democratic process without intimidation or interference.

“Those who wish to stand as independent candidates have every right and liberty to do so, and no one should prevent them,” he emphasized.

He concluded by calling on citizens and political players to safeguard Zambia’s democracy and uphold the will of the people.

“Zambia chose democracy in 1991, and we want to continue seeing the will of the people prevail. May God bless this nation we love and cherish. God bless Zambia,”  Apostle Kunda said.
