Trump told a congressman accused of holding a gun to his ex-wife’s head and breaking their toddler’s collarbone: “I hope he’s able to work it out. I feel badly for him.”
The allegations are laid out in a May 24 affidavit from Emily Moreno, ex-wife of Rep. Max Miller (R-OH). She says Miller scalded her chest and stomach with hot water, slammed her against a wall, and put a gun to her head. In a February 18 message, she told him she’d found a large bruise on their 2-year-old daughter while bathing her. The bruise was a broken collarbone.
Miller denies everything. “If these accusations were true, I would be in jail,” he said.
Over the weekend, Miller posted a Dropbox link to his nearly 60,000 followers on X, saying he was speaking up “as a father, trying to protect our daughter.” Inside the folder were unredacted family records and one image of his 2-year-old daughter, nude. On CNN Tuesday night he said, “I wouldn’t say that it’s shockingly reckless,” and, “There is no genitalia of my daughter that was exposed.” Jake Tapper told him the court confirmed the photo was not publicly available. Miller’s own attorney had already apologized for putting it out.
Emily’s father, Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio, has called on Miller to resign, said he needs “serious psychological help,” and said, “He is a danger to my daughter.” Moreno also described Miller keeping the toddler’s blue stuffed bunny “hostage for 48 hours” while the girl cried at night because she couldn’t sleep without it.
Miller’s answer on air was to hint he could expose “a deeply and personal embarrassing matter” about the senator. He had already texted Moreno, “everyone is going to get to know you better than your wife does.”
