REMOVE THE GRADE 12 EDUCATION REQUIREMENT FOR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES – AMOS CHANDA
Amos Chanda, the former Press Aide to the late former President Edgar Lungu, has suggested that Zambia should abolish the Grade 12 education requirement for presidential candidates, arguing that it is unnecessary.
He pointed out that formal education is not always a prerequisite for effective leadership, citing former South African President Jacob Zuma as an example.
According to Chanda, Zuma never completed formal schooling yet managed to oversee the affairs of one of Africa’s most complex economies successfully.
He implied that leadership qualities and practical experience matter more than academic credentials when it comes to running a country effectively.
