80% OF YOUTHS IN NINE PROVINCES SAY THEY WILL BACK MUNDUBILE – DW
Roughly 75–80% of young people surveyed in Copperbelt, Luapula, Lusaka, Muchinga, Northern, Western, Eastern, North-Western and parts of Southern Province say they intend to support opposition presidential candidate Brian Mundubile of the NRPUP in Thursday’s election.
The youths cited hopes for fairer access to jobs, freedom of expression and what they described as a new direction for Zambia.
Mervis Mugala, a resident of Solwezi, said she and her friends were looking forward to a “new beginning,” claiming that many young people felt forgotten over the past five years.
Load shedding has also emerged as a major concern among young entrepreneurs, with some saying prolonged power outages crippled businesses and forced them to rely on expensive generators.
In Lusaka, some salon owners said power shortages severely affected their businesses, fueling calls for leadership that prioritises young entrepreneurs.
Zambians will vote on Thursday to elect a president who will lead the country for the next five years.
