Hundreds of Zimbabwean nationals have gathered behind Chatsworth Stadium in Durban, appealing to their embassy to facilitate their return home before the June 30 deadline.
Authorities have so far provided three buses to assist with the voluntary repatriation process. The development adds to the growing number of foreign nationals seeking to leave South Africa amid rising tensions and intensified immigration operations.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, visited the temporary repatriation centre in Durban, where thousands of Malawian nationals are being processed. The visit comes as officials accelerate verification and deportation procedures ahead of the June 30 deadline.
