MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI APPEAR BEFORE SOLWEZI MAGISTRATE’S COURT

National Restoration Party for Unity and Prosperity—NRPUP—2026 presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, have appeared before the Solwezi Magistrate’s Court on charges of seditious practices.
The matter was scheduled for plea and possible commencement of trial.
However, Mr. Mundubile applied for an adjournment after his lawyers failed to appear before the court.
Magistrate Mambwe Mukonde granted the application and adjourned the matter to October 5 , 2026, when the two are expected to take plea.
Mr. Mundubile and Mr. Zulu are also among 18 people facing treason charges and are yet to appear before court on that matter.
The State has accused them of being linked to a militia group allegedly involved in activities that threatened national peace and security following the August 13, 2026 general elections.
Authorities have since arrested several suspects and seized military equipment in connection with the alleged activities.
Under Zambian law, treason is a non-bailable offence and is tried by the High Court.
