Pregnant 17-year-old lured outside with flowers by ex-boyfriend before being shot in the head

A pregnant teenage girl was allegedly shot and k!lled by her adult boyfriend.

17-year-old Jariah Edwards was f@tally shot during a trip to San Diego over the weekend.

According to San Diego police, Edwards, who was about 32 weeks pregnant, was visiting San Diego with family when she was allegedly shot by her 21-year-old boyfriend. Investigators said the man drove from Phoenix to San Diego, where the shooting occurred.

Family and friends are remembering her as a caring, funny teenager who made people feel seen.

Friends told KNXV they are struggling to come to terms with her d£ath.

“Honestly, when I first found out, that was just the most heartbreaking thing to ever hear,” Amara Corley told KNXV. “It’s just sad. She didn’t deserve this. Nobody should experience this at such a young age.”

Corley and her sister said they had known Edwards for several years and described her as someone with a sarcastic sense of humor who always made people laugh.

“She was funny. We always laughed,” Amara Corley told KNXV. “Her personality was very sarcastic.”

Friends described Edwards as kind-hearted and full of life.

“He was literally a monster and he ran into somebody with a pure soul,” Jamila Corley told KNXV. “There’s nothing she could have done that made him act like this.”

Authorities said Edwards’ baby survived and remains hospitalized.

“That’s the last part we have of her, while he still gets to be alive in jail,” Jamila Corley told KNXV.

“That’s the most heartbreaking part about it,” Tanner Swanson of A New Leaf told KNXV. “It’s entirely preventable. Every single instance of domestic violence is preventable.”

Friends told KNXV that Edwards had been trying to leave the relationship and was excited about becoming a mother.

“This is the last person on earth you would expect this to happen to,” Amara Corley told KNXV. “She did not deserve this at all.”

Family and friends have launched a fundraiser to help support Edwards’ newborn child and cover funeral expenses.
