MUNDUBILE TO ESTABLISH A MINISTRY OF INDUSTRIALISATION

While featuring on Millennium television, Zambia’s incoming President, Brian Mundubile, promised to establish a Ministry of Industrialization.

By centralizing efforts to grow the industrial sector, Mundubile said that the ministry will drive economic diversification, reducing the country’s dependence on raw material exports like copper.

He said that through effective policy coordination, the ministry will promote value addition and manufacturing, encouraging the domestic processing of Zambia’s natural resources. This will create new jobs, supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and stimulates entrepreneurship, directly benefiting the local population.

Additionally, a specialized ministry will attract foreign direct investment (FDI) by providing a clear regulatory framework and fostering public-private partnerships. This, in turn, will facilitate technology transfer and infrastructure improvements, such as better transport networks and reliable energy supply, which are essential for industrial growth.

He said that by prioritizing skills development and innovation, the ministry will help build a more competitive workforce, preparing Zambia for participation in regional and global markets

Ultimately, Mundubile said that the Ministry of Industrialization will play a pivotal role in lifting living standards, increasing national revenues, and ensuring long-term, sustainable economic growth for Zambia.
