Morocco has become one of the only two countries to arrive in Ivory Coast ahead of the tournament.

Morocco, who had a great World Cup in Qatar in 2022 becoming the first African country to reach the semifinal of the competition, will be looking to replicate that form at the upcoming tournament. They have won the competition once in their history, over 40 years ago in 1976. Their best performance since then on the continent came in 2004 when they finished as runners-up.

The Chipolopolo Boys are set to play Morocco in the final match in Group F. They will first play the Democratic Republic of Congo on January 17th, which will be Zambia’s first match at the AFCON tournament since 2015. This will be followed up with an encounter against Tanzania a few days later.

Group F of the Africa Cup of Nations will be based in the port city of San Pedro. The Chipolopolo Boys are set to play a friendly match against Cameroon tomorrow in Saudi Arabia as they continue to prepare for the tournament. Morocco’s arrival in Ivory Coast is timely for the team to get accustomed to the weather. They join Guinea-Bissau as the only two nations to make early entry into Ivory Coast for the tournament.

The Africa Cup of Nations is a biennial football tournament that is contested by the national teams of the member associations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament was first held in 1957 and has been held every two years since then, except for in 2013, when it was moved to odd-numbered years to avoid clashing with the FIFA World Cup.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be the 33rd edition of the tournament. It will be hosted by Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 14, 2024. A total of 24 teams will compete in the tournament, which is the largest number of teams to ever participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The teams have been divided into six groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which will begin with the round of 16. The winner of the tournament will be crowned the champion of Africa retuning home with 7million dollars trophy.
