After Zambians voted for United Party for National Development-UPND hoping for decency, Government has blocked United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) from registration by registering a Party with similar names called Unified Knowledge Africa (UKA).

Two weeks ago, former PF Member Chanda Nonde currently supporting UPND boasted on ZAMAC WhatsApp group that UKA will be registered in another person’s name before the end of the week.

And Heritage Party President Chishala Kateka has since revealed on her Facebook page that the new UPND backed UKA was registered by the Registrar of Societies under receipt # 0037096882578896 and trans ID 9804451979556698.

The move is a demonstration of shrinking democratic space which President Hakainde Hichilema condemned while in opposition as the real UKA will be considered illegal.

Meanwhile, real UKA Council of Presidents (CoP) has called for mass actions of the people throughout the Country following the undemocratic move to register fake UKA.

UKA Member and NDC President Saboi Imboela said the Council received confirmed reports that the State through President Hakainde Hichilema, Jack Mwiimbu and Thabo Kawana have moved to register a ‘FAKE UKA’ as part of the tricks not to register the real United Kwacha Alliance, UKA.

“The Nation must be reminded that the State has applied extreme INERTIA to register the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA). It has resorted to peddling cheap lies through Minister of Home Affairs Jack Mwiimbu and their surrogates. We are reliably informed that the registration of this FAKE UKA has reached an advanced stage and it is aimed at sponsoring confusion in the same way they have done so in the Patriotic Front Party (PF). We wish to strongly warn President Hakainde Hichilema, Jack Mwiimbu and Thabo Kawana that such imigalato (tricks) shall be met with equal force from UKA. It is now clear to UKA that we are dealing with uncivil, unreasonable and uncouth characters, UKA shall respond accordingly, we have talked enough,” she said.

And Golden Party Zambia President Jackson Silavwe who belongs to UKA said all the UKA Presidents are prepared to be arrested alongside their people in defense of our cherished freedoms and democracy.

“UKA leaders shall lead from the front and willing to pay any sacrifice deemed fit by Hichilema’s Government,” he said.
