President Edgar Lungu has described himself as both a serpent and a dove.

FORMER President Edgar Lungu has described himself as both a serpent and a dove.

Speaking at a special prayer service for the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) at Dunamis Miracles Church yesterday, Mr Lungu claimed to possess the cunning of a snake and the peacefulness of a dove.

He said his nature is what causes the current government to lose sleep and experience verbal outbursts at the mention of his name.

“They keep calling us jokers. They think we are jokers. I was president for seven years, can I be joking here? I started my journey in State House in 2015,” he said.

Mr Lungu cited biblical references, stating, “The Bible says be a serpent or be the dove. So if you combine the slyness of a snake and the peacefulness of a dove, I have both. That is why they experience verbal diarrhea when they hear ‘Edgar Lungu’,” he said.

He said he was initially scheduled to attend a church service at the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) in Kanyama but was blocked and police had mobilised, leading him to attend the service at Dunamis Miracles Church.

“Being the snake that I am, I am here. We have beaten them. Imingalato. baloba ilyabola,” he said.

Mr Lungu declared that the time had come and that the government could not stop it.

He further said he did not require permission for his movements.

“I do not need permission from anybody, and I want you to know. There is nothing to fear. He is just a man like me,” he said.
