UPND determined to spend K300M in by-elections showdown
THE UPND is determined to spend more than K300 million of government money in a bid to entrench themselves on by-elections in nine constituencies, which are being held by the Patriotic Front (PF) Members of Parliament whose seats were declared vacant by second deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Moyo.
This is despite Mr Sampa having sued Morgan Ng’ona and Robbert Chabinga, telling the Lusaka High Court that he does not need the approval of the party’s central committee to remove the duo from their positions as secretary general and Leader of Opposition in Parliament, respectively.
Mr Sampa has also withdrawn and reversed the expulsion of the nine PF MPs whose seats have been declared vacant.
Mr Sampa is countersuing Mr Ng’ona, seeking a court order to declare the latter’s removal from his positions as Secretary General and to nullify his own expulsion from the party
