Ukraine Strikes Near St. Petersburg, Hitting Oil Infrastructure and Military Targets Over 850 km from the Border
Ukraine has announced a major long-range strike deep inside Russian territory, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stating that Ukrainian forces successfully hit strategic targets near St. Petersburg overnight.
According to Zelenskyy, the operation targeted port oil infrastructure that supports Russia’s war economy, as well as military facilities in Kronstadt, a key Russian naval base in the Gulf of Finland.
The reported strike occurred more than 850 kilometers from Ukraine’s border, highlighting Kyiv’s expanding long-range strike capability against strategic military and economic assets deep inside Russia.
The operation marks another phase of Ukraine’s campaign to target Russian logistics, fuel infrastructure, and military facilities far beyond the front lines, suggesting that additional long-range operations could follow if the strategy continues to expand.
