Road accident claims life of Kabwe priest exactly 21 years after his ordination
A horrific road traffic accident has ended the life of a Kabwe-based Catholic priest exactly 21 years from the day he was ordained.
Father Edwin Mwale was ordained as a priest on June 7, 2003 and passed died yesterday, June 7, 2024 plunging the Kabwe Catholic community into mourning.
His ordination anniversary had just been marked with the sharing of a pamphlet bearing a picture from the day he was ordained a cherished memory of his two decades of dedicated service.
Bishop Clement Mulenga of Kabwe Diocese confirmed the death of Fr. Mwale in a statement.
Bishop Mulenga expressed deep sorrow over the sudden and tragic loss.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of our dear brother, Fr. Edwin Mwale, who died in a road traffic accident this morning,” stated Bishop Mulenga.
“Fr. Edwin Mwale was the Cathedral administrator of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kabwe.”
Fr. Mwale’s commitment to his faith and community was unwavering and his death leaves a significant void in the lives of those who knew him and the wider Catholic community in Kabwe.
The funeral and burial arrangements for Fr. Mwale will be communicated during the course of this weekend.
