Putin redrawing Ukraine’s borders again as talk grows of two more regions joining Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin is signaling another possible shift to Ukraine’s territorial map, raising debate over whether two additional regions could be absorbed into Russia.

The development has renewed global attention on the war’s endgame, diplomatic pressure on Kyiv, and how Western powers…especially the United States…may respond if Moscow consolidates further territory. Analysts say the situation could shape future negotiations and determine the political survival of Ukraine’s current leadership.

Namibian analyst Sakaria Shikomba commented:

“The more time the leadership in Kyiv takes to hold fresh elections or accept defeat, the more territory Putin will take, and that will be justified in the eyes of Trump and much of the real world. The comedian should surrender.”

The remarks reflect a growing divide in international opinion over whether the conflict will end through negotiation, battlefield outcomes, or a frozen conflict with shifting borders.
