President Lungu Refutes Thabo Kawana’s Statement: “HH Doesn’t Talk to Me”
Former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has dismissed as untrue recent claims by the government that President Hakainde Hichilema is in regular communication with him.
“Even when the country is in mourning, this government finds time to tell lies,” Lungu said in a terse statement. “I cannot remember the last time President Hichilema talked to me. These guys are nothing but liars.”
Lungu’s remarks come in response to assertions made by Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, who during a recent media briefing said there is no bad blood between the two leaders and that President Hichilema “regularly checks in” on his predecessor.
